Ciao!
My name is Niki Nicastro.
I was born in Como, in Northern Italy, both of my parents are Sicilian, and I’ve lived in Bologna and in Rome. Where am I from? I don’t have a precise answer…. Well, I am definitely Italian! Even though I love my country and its history, art, culture, food, fashion, style, and people, in 2010 I decided to pursue my greatest dream and move to New York.
What I never imagined is that here I would also find my dream job!
I became a professional Italian tutor in 2011 and I love my job. Since I started, I’ve been teaching Italian for all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced, in groups or privately, and to all ages.
After obtaining a degree in Languages, I also studied Literature and Philosophy in Italy at the University of Bologna. I’ve studied Italian diction and I speak the language without any regional accent, so I can effectively correct your pronunciation and teach you how to roll your R.

Lessons with Niki
Italian is an amazingly musical language and even though it might be challenging to study, I am a patient and passionate teacher.
I will help you to speak and to be confident in your Italian, from learning the ABCs to reading books, writing essays, and being able to understand and speak the language of the “Bel Paese,” perhaps even adding a couple of hand gestures to round it all up.
As a private tutor, over the years I have developed an excellent method for teaching Italian. I am a grammar expert. I am able to explain Italian and English grammar in both languages, so I can teach any aspect of it in either language and help my students, especially beginners.
I take pride in my own, self-devised method and I always try to create new ways to teach my wonderful, native language. All the lessons and programs are individually customized for my students based on their level, needs, and availability.
My students have often told me that my enthusiasm helps keep them motivated and be more confident in speaking. They appreciate being able to say simple sentences from the very first lesson.
